The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is planning two prescribed burns in Allegan County.
Both of today’s prescribed burns are in Clyde Township.
In the first prescribed burn, the Michigan DNR plans to burn 127 acres starting around 10:30 a.m. The second burn includes 29 acres and is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
The burns are intended to rejuvenate grasses and set back encroachment of woody plants to benefit grasslands, birds and rabbits.
The videos below demonstrate how and why the Michigan DNR conducts prescribed burns.
