The Kent County Sheriff’s Office reports it received multiple calls on Monday morning of suspects breaking into vehicles by Marshwood Ct. SW.
Upon arrival of police, two vehicles fled, but were later found nearby at 68th. St. & Clyde Park.
As deputies closed in on the vehicles they found four suspects running from the cars. All four were apprehended. The suspects are ages 15, 16 and two are 17. All are males from Grand Rapids.
Three stolen vehicles were recovered.
This follows car break-ins last month in the same area of Byron Township.
There was a similar incident this morning in Gaines Township when a call was placed to 9-1-1 at 2:30 a.m.
A homeowner said three suspects were checking car doors in the neighborhood along South Park Dr SE.
Deputies arrived in the area and located the vehicle described by the homeowner and attempted to stop it. The vehicle fled from deputies but ran over spike strips just down the road. A pursuit continued on Kalamazoo Ave. until the driver lost control and came to a stop along Kalamazoo Ave. near 52nd St.
One occupant ran away and a second was arrested in the vehicle. The vehicle itself was stolen from Plainfield Township on May 3rd.
Deputies located two pistols inside the vehicle along with cash and other items stolen from vehicles. An 18-year-old Grand Rapids man was arrested on charges related to the case. The other suspect remains outstanding.
Police say all areas of Kent County are being targeted.
